My Valentine

In a time of roses, you gave me light.

As all seemed so hopeless, you showed me love.

When I drifted from death, you gave me life.

In a world of lies, your truth became my home.

Always have I looked at love as a curse,

never understanding the beauty therein.

Completely entirely my heart is in your hands,

wading past the seaweed holding back the waves.

Sorrowful nights alone together now we stand,

yearning for this moment to fade into forever.

I see the heart you possess within my reach,

taking in the essence forged in fires of love.

Burning for the fleeting lights to end the day,

knowing that everyday you are my Valentine.

I question nothing now for in your mind is me,

teaching me to kiss, reminding me to feel loved.

For so long the shadows came ripping away my tears,

crying now in this storm of desire we both embrace.

I see you before holding me without a question inside,

as we dance together under February skies.

Light in your heart tonight my name upon your love,

knowing that in what we are is every second of each day.

My Valentine, beautiful love of mine, may I have your hand,

in through this life everyday will be filled with our love.

Valentine, sweet Valentine, I offer you this man,

filled with trust, forsaken by lust, found within my eyes.

As life becomes our end, will you let me hold you tonight?

In your eyes there is truth, will you teach me how to stand?

With all that is inside of me, will you take me as your own?

Not this day but everyday, will you be my Valentine?
