I lost my best friend today,
as the snow fell upon my heart,
tears formed the ice around my soul,
sickened by grief the lights faded.
She was there only moments ago,
a smile on her face so becoming,
beautiful eyes looking through me,
taken away without a warning.
In this cold I now feel I am empty,
full of despair behind my eyes,
screaming silently through my pain,
why can’t I see her smiling my way?
Heartache ripping at my core,
seeing her image flash within,
taken from my hands so weak,
I still see her somehow saying I love you.
Knowing only the feelings she felt,
misconstrued anguish now fear,
watching the way that she fell,
blood on my hands as she died.
In screaming to the heavens my hell,
burning rage in my heart I cry,
holding her hands as she left,
not a tear left for her to weep.
Hit by life as death answers,
white in its luster my fall,
nothing now left to live for,
my best friend, my love, my wife.
