Joining life for death

A warm gentle smile kisses my brow,

intended to whisper softly her eyes.

Holding hands as love grows to light,

in friendship and eternally entwined.

Looking down at our hands mixed as one,

unaware of whose fingers are whose.

Taking breaths as our air comes together,

melting hearts twisting lives to hold on.

Laughter starts with a look fiendishly portrayed,

games played on the floor tickling rapture.

Hanging on screaming as we chase each other,

knowing we both want the chance to be caught.

Her hair drapes in my face as she pins me down,

the look in her eyes reminds me of when we were young.

Taken back to a world built on this love,

shared thoughts our feelings written in blood.

I see her here before me after so many years have been spent,

on her knees she reminds me of the games we used to play.

A flower in her hand for my life to accept,

I love her smile how she lights up my world.

Her hands touch my name and she weeps,

knowing she will join me soon she is restless.

As her heart beats one more time I feel her warmth,

I wait here below for her to join me in the shadows.
