Heartbeat of love

Ponder this I tell myself as I watch the world die,

each crashing heartbeat echoing through my mind.

The littlest hopes becoming the dreams of long ago,

crying out in rain blending into snow.

The lights that once were so bright and beautiful,

burn away in shades of something less than dull.

Tasting the wind in the kisses made in my demise,

broken man through painful images my eyes.

I feel nothing but the end approaching me,

with fear in my heart I close my thoughts to see.

Becoming the loneliness felt so many nights before,

knocking harder I am falling to an empty floor.

I see the pain arise on the flames of heavens touch,

realizing that in my life I never mattered much.

With all that I was before I give up myself tonight,

seeking retribution in my crying eyes now blind.

Holding true to one thing unseen from above,

I am in you a heartbeat of light, hope, and love.
